Quality Assurance Engineer

Description

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for recommending and establishing tests and procedures for assuring product reliability. Also determine reliability factors pertaining to products where a considerable amount of creativity and involved initiative are as well as a high level of independent judgment. May supervise and direct a medium size group of employees engaged in specialized or varied tasks.

- Facilitates reliability testing, quality analysis, and solves validation problems.
- Analyzes product design to assure quality and reliability.
- Developing queries to sort through large amounts of testing and validation raw data
- Data quality analysis and summary reporting of validation test results
- Understanding customer usage and creating test scenarios to stress component software and measure key performance metrics
- Identify, measure, and report key system performance testing metrics from field data that is important to the customer experience
  and to the business
- Improving product reliability by improving the supplier's ability to validate product design, demonstrate manufacturing process
  capability, and to select components/Tier II suppliers with outstanding field performance.
- Working closely with the hardware supplier's Development Engineers to test and identify corrective actions required to improve
  system performance
- Assist the hardware supplier's quality team in finding root cause for systemic hardware component defects and software
  failures.
- Assist RIBO Product Development, RIBO Supplier Quality, and RIBO Purchasing in improving the Tier I supplier's product
  development, validation, safe launch, and field performance (warranty/reliability)
- Serves as a liaison between engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing to assure quality and reliability.
- Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise.
- Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities.
- Auto parts specific field/customer satisfaction Key Performance Indicators (KPI) improvement and monthly reporting (auto parts,
  shops, supplier).
- Field technical report collection, analysis, registration and communication.
- Support auto parts specific problem solving teams, (External and Internal).
- Warranty reduction special program administration (Warranty Cost Share Change Request, Standard Work Chart Sheets, etc)
  cost and claim allocation and recovery.
- Support special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Required:
- Validation testing experience
- Strong Microsoft Access database skills to analyze large amounts of validation test data
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), Web Page design and maintenance.
- Knowledge of and ability to effectively use computer software as it pertains to engineering preferred.
- Strong problem solving skills, ability to diagnose a symptom and determine potential sources of variation, construct confirmation
  tests
- Working knowledge of automotive electronic and electrical products
- High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
- Well developed oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including a good telephone manner
- High level of knowledge of product engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of Corporate and divisional quality and reliability, standards, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required.
- Bachelor degree with a major in engineering or equivalent training.
- Excellent Time Management skills required to multi-tasks, be flexible with assignments and changing priorities.
- Must have a good working knowledge of field warranty information processing, data mining and analysis experience.
- Proven leadership and problem solving skills are essential.
- Automotive components knowledge, any automotive mechanical knowledge skills is an asset.
- Expertise with Warranty Administration Information Systems.

Basic Preferred:

- 3+ years related experience, preferably in the auto parts industry (Warranty Data Analysis Reporting)
- Advanced database skills: Cognos, ReportNet, SQL Server, PL/SQL, SQL Plus
- University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering (Preference in Mechanical or Industrial)
